Berries, berries, and brambles, please! We will happily devour all the berries! And, while it is true that the blackberry (genus Rubus) isn’t, by definition, a berry, it is as remarkably complex as a multi-faceted jewel. You can thank the drupelets for the distinct look—those 75-85 individual sections that combine to form a single fruit. Janet’s latest creation is a stunner, capturing each section realistically. The plump model for the latest pendant came right off the brambles on her farm. Luckily, Janet had finished sketching by the time she devoured all the juicy drupelets.
The blackberry necklace is great on it's own or a great addition to your layering pieces. Add a few charms too!
Blackberries were used in ancient times by the Greeks as a remedy for gout, and the Romans made a tea from the leaves of the blackberry plant to treat various illnesses.
A handful of blackberries is approximately 30 calories.
Blackberries are considered a super food as they contain vitamin A, B1, B2, C, E and K.
In the UK there is a belief that blackberries should not be picked after Old Michaelmas Day ( October 11th ) as the devil makes them unfit to eat by stepping, spitting or fouling on them!
